DMX's hearse is a monster truck

Move over Prince Philip

Rapper, DMX, who goes by the name, Earl Simmons, recently passed away. Just like many platinum-album artists, DMX is not the kind to be laid to rest the regular way. In true Ruff Ryder style, the artist’s coffin was mounted on a monster truck, followed by thousands of riders wishing to pay their respects.

Beginning his rap career in the 1990s, he was known for hits like “Party Up (Up in Here),” “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” and “X Gon’ Give it To Ya.” Music critics described DMX as passionate, with his style showing distinct rawness, and pure emotional honesty.

Besides a rap career, DMX also starred in a few Hollywood movies like Exit Wounds and Cradle 2 the Grave.

DMX suffered a heart attack on April 2, 2021, and was in the hospital in a vegetative state. On April 9, he was pronounced dead at age 50.

While DMX may have faded from the spotlight in recent years, it appears the support of his fans is still strong with thousands turning out for the funeral procession and memorial service.

The service was held in Brooklyn New York. As you can see in the video, carrying his coffin is a Ford F250 monster truck with “Long Live DMX” painted on the side. The vehicle was followed by thousands of riders on motorcycles, quad ATVs, three-wheeled motorcycles, and a few supercars all the way to the Barclays Center were the service was held.

The unusual choice of hearse calls to mind another recent event, the passing of Prince Philip. During his internment, the Prince was laid to rest in a custom-made Land Rover Defender pickup, which the Prince reportedly had a hand in designing over 16 years.

While a monster truck is not as subtle as a green Land Rover Defender, it certainly shows that DMX was not afraid of showing who he really was.
