The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is now investigating the alleged illegal discharge of wastewater from a ship at the Manila Bay,
In a statement, the PCG said it is now working with the Marine Environmental Protection Group (MEPGRP) to check on the yellowish liquid discharge allegedly from the MV Sarangani near the Manila Yacht Club.


The PCG discovered that the only crew member on board was oiler Escolastico Bunyi, who also serves as the caretaker of the vessel.

During the ocular inspection, the PCG found out that the source of the liquid waste was the cooling system of MV Sarangani.
“They issued an Inspection Apprehension Report (IAR) to MV Sarangani through its owner, Emil Neri for violating PCG’s Memorandum Circular Number 01 – 2005 Paragraph 4 on marine pollution,” the PCG said in a statement.
The PCG said it collected samples to determine the cause of water discoloration surrounding the vessel and for further investigation.
