The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country is nearing the one-million mark.

On Sunday, April 25, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 8,162 new COVID cases bringing the total number of cases to 997,523.
The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 20,509 new recoveries and 109 new deaths.
Total recoveries rose to 903,665 while total deaths climbed to 16,783.
Of the 77,075 active cases, the DOH said 95.5 percent were mild, 1.5 percent asymptomatic, 1.0 percent were critical, 1.2 percent were severe and 0.84 percent were moderate.
The DOH said 19 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 13 of these were recoveries.
"Moreover, 52 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said
The Health department said two labs were not operational on April 23, 2021 while eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
