The Department of Health (DOH) reported an additional 9,661 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Saturday, April 24.

The new case count pushed the country’s total tally of confirmed cases to 989,380, while the number of active cases is now at 89,485
Of this figure, 95.9 percent were exhibiting mild symptoms, 1.4 percent were asymptomatic, 0.8 percent were in critical condition, 1.1 percent have severe symptoms, while 0.7 percent were in moderate condition.
On the other hand, 145 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Saturday, increasing the country’s death count to 16,674.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported that 22,877 more patients have recovered from the dreaded disease, pushing the nationwide tally of recoveries at 883,221.
The Health department said 21 duplicates were removed from the total case count, which included 12 recoveries.
“Moreover, 56 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
The DOH said one testing laboratories was not operational on April 22, while five were not able to submit their data on time to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
