DOST-NRCP launches PH's first 'gender-responsive' COVID-19 online dashboard
The Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) is launching the country’s first “gender-sensitive” online dashboard for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.
This was disclosed by DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” de la Peña during his weekly report on Friday, April 23.

“We have a report on the National Research Council of the Philippines regarding the launching of their gender-responsive COVID-19 Cases Monitor (CCMon). This is actually a dashboard with a graphical user interface that provides at-a-glance views of the number of COVID-19 cases or progress report across the national and local government units, regional, provincial, municipality, barangay,” he said.
He noted that the CCMon maintains COVID-19 related indicators that are relevant to decision making and appropriate response of the LGU managers such as congressman, governor, mayor, barangay captain, and LGUs’ heath service providers.
These include the site, sex, age, unique cases such as pregnant women, severity of infections (asymptomatic, mild, severe), number of deaths, number of recoveries, health status of front-liners, and bed capacity of hospitals.
The DOST chief said it was NRCP Governing Board Member and University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Mathematics professor, Dr. Jomar F. Rabajante who developed the CCMon.
The development of the dashboard was through an NRCP funded project under the Kapakanan ng Tao sa Oras ng Pandemya program or KTOP.
"It allows LGU managers to monitor the number of COVID-19 cases from each barangay and to easily consolidate the number of cases categorized in various indicators mentioned for the purposes of reporting and quick implementation of courses of actions addressing the problem on hand,” de la Peña said.
Rabajante was tapped to develop the dashboard during the height of the enhanced community qurantine in Luzon in April 2020.
The dashboard uses mainly data from the Department of Health (DOH)’s Data Drop and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the NRCP said.
