Korean comedian Kwon Hyuk-soo found positive for COVID-19; STAYC to be tested

Korean comedian and entertainer Kwon Hyuk-soo, best known for appearing on “Saturday Night Live Korea,” has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

His agency, Humap Contents, confirmed that the 34-year-old celebrity has been found to be positive for the virus on April 22.

Kwon Hyuk-soo had a meeting on April 14 with an accountant who did know he had the virus as he was asymptomatic.

After learning that the accountant became positive for COVID-19, Kwon Hyuk-soo underwent testing and his results on April 22 showed that he was positive too. He immediately underwent isolation and took necessary measures based on the guidelines of health authorities.

On April 19 before he was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19, Kwon Hyuk-soo became a guest on MBC FM4U’s “Dreaming Radio” program hosted by former Secret member Hyosung.

As a result, Hyosung and the radio program staff had to undergo COVID-19 tests. She was absent from her radio gig on April 22.

K-pop girl group STAYC also became a guest on “Dreaming Radio” on April 20, or a day after Kwon Hyuk-soo’s appearance.

High Up Entertainment, STAYC’s agency, said the girls were not classified as close contacts but canceled their schedule for April 22.

In addition, STAYC will undergo COVID-19 testing as a preemptive measure with their agency adding that it will reveal the test results.

On April 22, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reported 735 new COVID-19 positive cases to bring the total confirmed to 116,661 in South Korea.
