Actress Angel Locsin immediately issued an apology minutes after the tragedy that occurred at a community pantry she organized in celebration of her 36th birthday recently.
"Pasensya na po. Hindi po ito ang intensyon ko. Gusto ko lang po makatulong sa mga tao," she said in a video statement posted on Instagram.
She explained that they tried their best to make things systematic and organized as possible but for some snags.
The actress is seemingly unaware that a senior citizen died there.
According to a police report, the senior, identified as Rolando dela Cruz, 67, fainted while waiting in line at the community pantry.
He died in a hospital later.
Investigation on his death is still ongoing.
Note that thousands flocked to the pantry located in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City Friday morning.
Apparently, many were encouraged to go there learning about it from Angel who announced the same via social media prior.
She said she is doing so to honor those who have done the same prior.
I decided to celebrate my birthday tomorrow by putting up a community pantry here..."
