Paras extends gratitude to UP community after move to East West Private

Former University of the Philippines star Kobe Paras is one proud Fighting Maroon.

Taking it to Twitter, Paras has extended gratitude to the UP community for welcoming him with open arms, especially after leading the Maroons to the second round of the stepladder during UAAP Season 82.

Paras may have considered many factors on why he chose to UP back then, but he has this "only one reason" for it all.

"Because my dad (Benjie) went there and he’s a living legend ‘cause of what he did for that school," wrote the 23-year-old Paras.

Benjie was known for being one of the best centers in Philippine basketball history before finding a new career in acting and comedy.

And perhaps, those basketball genes were inherited by his sons Kobe and Andre, who is now with PBA's Blackwater Bossing.

Due to the uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, Kobe has let go of his final year with the Maroons to become a one-and-done product of the university.

The younger Paras hopes to redeem himself overseas with EWP, also the handler of Australia NBL-bound Kai Sotto, after his journey with UCLA, Creighton University, and Cal State Northridge.

"I’m grateful for everything!! To my coaches, my teammates,  management, sponsors, & the amazing fans, Thank you!" added Paras, who was part of the UAAP Season 82's Mythical Team.
