Beautiful and sexy actress Yam Concepcion shines even brighter as she plays her biggest role on ABS-CBN' new teleserye “Init Sa Magdamag."

During a recent virtual press interview, Yam said that this is her biggest challenge to date as an actress.

“Talagang nakaka-proud kasi hindi ko rin na-imagine sa wildest dreams ko na makakatanggap ako ng ganitong klaseng role. Hindi lang siya dahil sobrang init or nagpa-sexy ako or what. It’s deeper than that.

“Looking back ngayon, siyempre ECQ na naman tayo and mag-isa na naman ako dito sa bahay. Ang dami kong realizations na hindi ko na-appreciate dati yung mga ganito. Tapos ngayon nag-si-sink in na sa akin na 'wow, this is something I should really be grateful for.' So nagapasalamat ako kay Direk Ruel Bayani kasi hindi lang dahil I’m getting a lead role or protagonist role but it’s such a great project, napakagandang kuwento. I’m sure maraming ma-i-inspire sa kuwento namin,” she said.

Playing the role of Rita Macatangay in the series, Yam said that all her efforts paid off after a decade in show business.

“Siyempre parang fulfilling yung pakiramdam kasi after 10 years, saka lang ako nagkaroon ng lead role. Ang tagal ko ring naghintay so parang feeling ko isa itong magandang kuwento na i-share sa mga bata na may mag pangarap. Success or dreams, it doesn’t happen overnight. You have to work for it. And along the way you will experience struggles, rejections, and you will question even yourself. Ang daming insecurities pero at the end of the day, you just have to believe in yourself and fight for your dreams. And of course with prayers and with a little luck you’ll get there,” she said.

A “suki” of Kapamilya teleseryes, Yam said that she carefully studied her role for “Init Sa Magdamag” to make it different from her past works.

“Nahirapan nga ako eh kasi for two years, ang pino-portray ko kontrabida kaya parang nadadala ko yata sa totoong buhay. So yung mga nuances na rolling of the eyes, para akong nagmumukha akong mataray talaga kahit dito kay Rita. Very honest naman yung director namin kapag nakikita nila na parang hindi na yan si Rita. Parang nakikita nila si Jade or si Dana Wong. So kino-correct naman nila. Wala pa naman ako sa point na kaya ko na. Hindi ko kaya (laughs). Kailangan ko yung guidance ng mga directors at ng mga EP namin. Very helpful sila and they’re very honest which I like. Talagang alagang alaga naman,” she explained.

The actress also said that she has matured big-time after 10 years in the industry.

“It all depends on my present situation sometimes yung paggawa ko ng mga roles. Iba iba eh, kasi iba iba yung stages ng buhay natin. Siguro nakatulong na nandito ako sa stage na nag-mature na ako so mas naintindihan ko na yung love and all aspects.

“May mga dumating din na mga unexpected na bagay nung ginagawa namin yung teleserye na nakuwestiyon ko din yung sarili ko. At saka yung capacity ko to love and capacity ko for love. Halos lahat siya internal eh so ang dami ko ring realizations. And that helped me also build the character.

In terms of like marriage and having kids, yun wala pa ako so that’s a whole different world. Yun yung hindi ko pa na-e-experience. But in terms of past love or present love, mamimili ka sa dalawa, yun dun ako naka-relate,” she added.
