Rabiya Mateo gets warm welcome in Florida for 69th Miss Universe competition

Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo has received a warm welcome from pageant fans during her arrival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the 69th Miss Universe competition.

On social media platforms, Jonas Gaffud, creative director for Miss Universe Philippines, shared snaps and videoÂ of Rabiya's arrival in Florida. Rabiya was accompanied by other members of the Philippine delegation in the coastal area.

Gaffud said he is not aware if other girls have arrived in the host city. From May 6-7, the official candidates will be whisked off to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their lodgings. Gaffud thanked the supporters of Rabiya in her Miss Universe journey.

"Our team has been very careful the whole time coming here to the US. Thank you, Lord, for the guidance and sending so many angels helping us along the way," said Gaffud.

Asked about Rabiya's activities this month, Gaffud said: "For now, focus lang muna kami sa trainings, and health protocols."

Gaffud earlier said Rabiya is battle-ready for the competition.

More than 70 candidates will vie for the title of Miss Universe 2020 in Hollywood, Florida on May 16 (May 17 in Manila).
