PH teams enjoy early lead in Dota Pro Circuit Season 2

Filipino squads seized the lead in both Upper and Lower Divisions of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Season 2-Southeast Asia at the end of the first week of action.

Smart Omega is sitting atop the Upper Division along with Indonesia's Boom Esports while South Built Esports is lording over the Lower Division following the matches last week.

Featuring its revamped roster, Omega prevailed in its two series versus Lilgun of Mongolia and Singapore Major team T1 led by its former coach Carlo "Kuku" Palad.

The boys in black took revenge against its fellow promoted team Lilgun, 2-1, behind 11K MMR midlaner Mc Nicholson "Mac" Villanueva and carry Justine "Tino" Grimaldo for a victorious Upper Division debut last Wednesday.

It was also Mac on his Aghanim's Scepter-armed Beastmaster (17-2-13 kill-death-assist record) and Tino on his unconventional Sniper (11-2-14) who towed Omega to a 51-minute triumph in Game 1 over Kuku and T1 last Sunday.

In the deciding Game 3, 10K MMR position-4 support Mark "Shanks" Redira's Dark Willow (9-0-13 who shone the brightest in the 32-4 demolition in just nearly 29 minutes.

For its part, South Built is solely pacing the Lower Division with a flawless 3-0 slate.

The former Vice Esports squad, which tapped carry Denz Darry "Abat' Anedez as replacement for Jinn "Palos" Lamatao (transferred to Execration), first took down 496 Gaming of Vietnam, 2-1, last Monday.

Abat and company followed it up with another 2-1 win over Army Geniuses of Indonesia before posting a 2-0 sweep of Galaxy Racer headed by Singaporean carry Galvin "Meracle" Kang Jian Wen.

Meanwhile, Singapore Major top six finisher Neon Esports and participant Fnatic will finally see action in the second DPC season in Week 2.

Fnatic, which has Filipino pros Polo "Raven" Fausto and Djardel "Dj" Mampusti, will open its campaign against the winless Execration (0-2) on Wednesday, April 21, while Neon will take on Boom Esports (2-0) the next day.
