HCPI brings back City Hatchback

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) is bringing back its popular City Hatchback model to maintain its dominance in the hatchback market after pulling out the Jazz model. 

At the virtual press launch , HCPI President Masahiko Nakamura said the introduction of All-New City will be an alternative to the loss of Jazz. The All-New City hatchback is also expected to strengthen its City portfolio in the country.

Despite the declining B segment in the local market, Nakamura said they still believe there is a good market for City Hatchback. The all new City hatchback is positioned to young professional, who loves the sporty and active lifestyle, and new couples.

Nakamura said the City hatchback is one of its best selling model in the Philippines.

While the industry is already recovering, Nakamura said this year is still a challenge for car companies.

He expects the all-New City, which comes in just lone variant, to be a game changer because of its unparalleled performance. 

The All-New City hatchback, which is imported from Thailand, will be affected by the provisional P70,000 safeguard measure per unit of imported passenger cars. HCPI Vice-President Louie Soriano said they will just collect P13,000 deposit from buyers for the safeguard duty and absorb the remaining amount. The amount shall be refunded to the buyer in the event the government will not implement the permanent safeguard measure. 

The All-New City hatchback has a price tag of P1.115 million. Soriano said they are targetting to exceed the 40 unit monthly sales of Jazz to maintain its dominance in the B segment hatchack category.

HCPI sold 11,700 units in 2020 and remained in the top ten car firms in the country. The All-New City Hatchback is now available at all 38 Honda dealerships nationwide with a suggested retail price (SRP) of P1,115,000* and comes in four colors: Ignite Red Metallic,  Meteoroid Gray Metallic (New Color), and  Platinum White Pearl* (Additional P20,000).
