Bren Esports sweeps Valorant PH Challengers, advances to SEA Finals

Comeback is real for Bren Esports as it swept its matches in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Stage 2 Philippines Challengers 2 over the weekend to clinch a berth in the Southeast Asia Challengers Finals.

After losing in the first Challengers two weeks ago, Bren emphatically bounced back when it mattered most as the second event staked a bigger champion's prize and more importantly, a ticket to the SEA Challengers Finals wherein a spot to the Masters Reykjavik in Iceland is up for grabs.

Getting back its former CSGO player-turned-Valorant pro Riley "Witz" Go (on trial) paid dividends as Bren went on a perfect championship run for the regional slot and the P100,000 prize.

Witz, who left Bren CSGO in February to give his esports career a breath of fresh air in Riot Games' FPS title, was coming off a stint with Made in Thailand (MiTH).

Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco, Jayvee "DubsteP" Paguirigan, Jim "BORKUM" Timbreza, Kevin "Dispenser" Te and Witz capped their run with a 3-0 sweep of SV Empire Esports in the best-of-five grand finals on Sunday night, April 18.

Bren annihilated Empire, 13-6, in Ascent then followed it up with a crushing 13-3 victory in Icebox.

Empire forfeited the third map due to technical issues, enabling JessieVash and the crew to easily take the title.

Bren blanked Walkure, 2-0 (13-2 in Icebox; 13-2 in Bind) to start its redemption campaign before taking down Alpha Esports Pro, 2-0 (13-9 in Icebox; 13-9 in Haven), in the semifinals.

Empire, which pulled off 2-0 sweeps over Galaxy Racer and Challengers 1 winner Hashira, still got P45,000 and an assured seat in the Challengers 3 wherein the last ticket to the SEA Finals is at stake.

Semifinalists Hashira and Alpha settled for P20,000 along with spots in the next Challengers.
