Inspiring movies that will make you believe in miracles

'Miracles from Heaven'

Lent is a time for reflection, and as most Filipinos spend the holiday with activities to enrich their spirituality, you can do the same by binging on these inspiring movies that will make you believe in miracles and restore your faith in your fellow man.


Miracles from Heaven. Based on a true story, this film is centered on the story of Christy Beam and her family after her daughter was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The film chronicles the family’s never ending journey of hope which culminates in a mysterious accident that miraculously heals the little girl. Prepare your hankies. This tale will definitely bring on the waterworks.


A Walk to Remember. This 2002 film starred Mandy Moore and Shane West as two polar opposite high school students who fall in love with each other unexpectedly. However, their story reveals a twist because Jamie (Moore) is actually dealing with leukemia. As Landon (West) does everything in his power to save the girl he loves, he comes to a realization about love and faith and the power of destiny. The film was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel but it will make you hope that you find a love as pure as Jamie and Landon’s in your lifetime.


Pay it Forward. If you’re getting sick and tired of negativity, this heartwarming tale of a grade school student who comes up with the concept of paying kindness forward to start a chain of good in his community will definitely restore your faith in humanity. The film stars Hailey Joe Osment, Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt and will inspire you to perform a random act of kindness straight away.


The Blind Side. The Blind Side is a 2009 film based on the true story of NFL player Michael Oher and his extraordinary relationship with the Tuohys, the family who adopted him and helped him reach his potentials in his academics and in professional sports. Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for her role as Leanne Tuohy, and for good reason. She truly brought to life the feisty, no-nonsense mother who fought for her family every step of the way.
