BTS' 'Bang Bang Con 21' concert streaming event draws 2.7 million concurrent viewers

K-pop superstars and Grammy nominees BTS presented a meaningful day to fans around the world with the “Bang Bang Con 21” concert streaming event held on April 17.

The streaming event, held starting at 3 p.m. KST on BTS’ official YouTube channel BangtanTV, drew 2.7 million peak concurrent viewers, or the total number of viewers who watched it simultaneously, Hybe Corp. (formerly Big Hit Entertainment), told Manila Bulletin.

This is higher than the first “Bang Bang Con” held on April 18 and 19, 2020, which recorded 2.24 million peak concurrent viewers.

“Bang Bang Con 21” is a special gift by BTS to fans amid the “untact” (non face-to-face) era due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic under which social distancing is being implemented.

The first concert presented at the streaming event was the “2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode I: BTS Begins” held in Seoul. This showcased BTS’ performance of “No More Dream,” “Tomorrow,” “War of Hormone” and “Like.”

Next was the global fan meeting “BTS 5th Muster ” held in Busan, South Korea in June 2019 wherein 19 songs were performed including “Boy With Luv” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2.”

Third was the BTS World Tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” held in May 2019 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, showcasing songs such as “Dionysus,” “Not Today” and “Fake Love.”

“Bang Bang Con 21” was held for eight hours and the hashtags “#BANGBANGCON21” and “#ThankYouBTS” became the No. 1 trending topics on Twitter.
