Bren Esports averts disaster vs Cignal Ultra, scores tough win in MPL

Bren Esports showed its steady composure in the deciding game as it survived Cignal Ultra, 2-1, in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Saturday, April 17. 

The reigning MPL-PH and world champion team took advantage of Cignal's late reaction and secured an all-important Luminous Lord kill to get the 20-minute win in Game 3. 

David "FlapTzy" Canon's Uranus and Allan "Lusty" Castromayor's Popol and Kupa were the ones soaking up the opposing damage for Bren to get ahead in team fights and safely take objectives. 

Meanwhile, it was CJ "Ribo" Ribo's Chang'e who dished out the heavy magic DPS with the Meteor Shower to either gun down the Cignal heroes or zone them out of position. 

By prevailing in the hard-fought series, Bren surpassed Onic PH at No. 3 in Group A with six points on a 2-3 series win-loss record. 

Coach Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro's boys also chalked their second straight win dating back to their 2-1 triumph over Execration in Week 2. 

Cignal lost a third consecutive series to start its campaign this season but tallied its first game win by taking Game 2 against no less than the M2 world champion. 

Alpha made an explosive debut in the MPL-PH at the hands of M2 Grand Finals MVP Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno as Bren coasted to a 16-8 victory in Game 1. 

However, Cignal outlasted Bren in Game 2 despite a sneaky Lord still by Ribo's Kagura with the "Ultra Kalmado" squad wiping out the boys in black and yellow to force the rubber match.  

Bren managed to outlast Cignal that looked scary heading to the late game with the Bruno of Janus "JANUS" Badando backed by DJ "ImbaDeejay" Astibe's Rafaela.
