Taguig police buy-bust yields P268,000 worth of shabu, illegal firearm
The Taguig City police arrested a 53-year-old man who yielded nearly P268,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and an illegal firearm during a buy-bust operation on April 16.

Suspect Rowel Chan was nabbed by operatives in Brgy. Central Bicutan, Taguig for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Seized from the suspect were three pieces of plastic sachets containing 39.4 grams of shabu worth P267,920, a .45 caliber pistol, and ammunition.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by the Taguig City Police Station’s drug enforcement unit.
Chan is now detained at Taguig police custodial facility and will face charges of selling, trading, and possession of dangerous drugs, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, Southern Police District director, praised the police’s sustained operations against illegal drugs.
“The SPDs intensified operations vs illegal drugs have produced fruitful results despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
He added, "Nakikita nyo naman na sa araw-araw ay walang humpay ang ating mga kapulisan sa SPD sa kanilang operasyon upang masugpo ang problema sa ilegal na droga sa mga mapagsamantalang mga drug pushers at users kahit na may pandemya" (Our police in the SPD continue their operation to stop the illegal drugs trade of drug pushers and users despite the pandemic).”
