Mega vaccination hub for COVID-19 opens at SM Aura in Taguig

The Taguig City government opened its third mega vaccination hub for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City.

This is also part of SM’s partnership with local government units nationwide under its multi-mall vaccination program to help in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

Through the establishment of vaccination centers in its malls, SM is providing accessible venues where people can get vaccinated.

Sec. Carlito Galvez and Sec. Vince Dizon of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases’ Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team, together with Sen. Pia Cayetano and Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano, visited the SM Aura mega vaccination hub for inspection on April 16.

The SM Aura mega vaccination hub was launched on April 14 to become the seventh vaccination center in Taguig.

This will complement the city’s two existing mega vaccination hubs at Lakeshore area and Vista Mall parking building and four community vaccination centers at RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, EM’s Signal Village Elementary School and Western Bicutan National High School.

The SM Aura hub has four vaccination teams and can administer the vaccine to 400 people per day.

As of April 15, Taguig has vaccinated 20,292 residents consisting of 9,503 in the A1 group (health workers), 5,273 in the A2 group (senior citizens) and 5,516 in the A3 group or those 18-59 years old with comorbidities. An additional 1,068 health workers were given their second dose.

"The city continues to vaccinate those who are in categories A1, A2, at A3. We prioritize them because they are the most vulnerable sector. These are the most vulnerable sectors that if infected, there are high chances that they will experience severe symptoms,” said Mayor Cayetano.
