Fashion icon Carine Roitfeld now loves sweatpants. Here's why

'In fashion, we must never say never.'

Since the pandemic has struck with its invisible army, we have made great, some even funny, fashion discoveries. The global industry working together to create protection, that's amazing. Retail giants realizing better the power of sustainability earned many "at last" sighs. Anna Wintour wears denim jeans, groundbreaking!

It seems that even the most posh of fashion society is not immune to the virus of pandemic dressing. Who can blame them? We all deserve every comfort we can get in these trying times. The latest to admit their style conversion is the former editor of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld.  

In an interview with 24S, the French fashion icon shares her pandemic story, from watching virtual runway shows to dishing about the season's must-have accessory (scarf) and editing the latest issue of CR Fashion Book. Believe it or not, a highlight of the interview is her sweatpants revelation, which on many occasions she has described as awful.

"My poor children were forbidden from wearing them for 15 years, they probably still have something to say about it," she reveals. "And now I've rediscovered sweats."

Her inspiration for wearing one came from the show "The Sopranos," where the characters wore elevated tracksuits, which according to Carine are made by Fila and Sergio Tacchini.

"I wear sweatpants," she confesses. "Sadly, Sergio Tacchini doesn't do women's, so I bought Fila sweatpants. And to take it to the next level, I wear them with white socks, and on my feet, a pair of slides."

Well, what could be more "fashion-forward" than that?
