Smart Omega pulls out Estes and Diggie to spoil Cignal Ultra debut

Displaying its superior drafting and execution, Smart Omega made short work of the debuting Cignal Ultra, 2-0, at the resumption of MPL Philippines Season 7 on Thursday, April 15. 

Omega, under coach Tony "Ynot" Senedrin, surprisingly pulled out two supports in Estes and Diggie to swiftly cut off Cignal in the clincher of the first match of the MPL Philippines since March 28. 

The league finally resumed after a lengthy break following the Holy Week and the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the sudden spike in COVID-19 infections. 

Beatrix made her first MPL-PH appearance as the Season 6 runner-up and M2 World Championship playoffs finisher picked up the Dawnbreak Soldier for Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo in Game 1. 

But it was veteran sidelaner Kenneth Jiane "Kenji" Villa who took the spotlight on his Uranus as he absorbed nearly all the incoming damage from the physical-heavy lineup of Cignal. 

That opened up the opportunity for the "AngeLing" combo of Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon and Salic "Hadjizy" Imam and Jankurt "KurTzy" Matira's Yve to burst down the opponents and seal the 21-11 win in 16 minutes. 

Omega then went for an ultra-sustain composition anchored on KurtTzy's Estes and Haze's Diggie to protect Hadjizy's funnel Bruno in the one-sided Game 2. 

With Toshi's Alice and Kenji's Baxia flanking in team fights, Hadjizy was able to deal the massive physical damage to heroes and later on to structures as Omega closed out the series in just 10 minutes. 

With the sweep, Omega moved to No. 2 behind Blacklist International in Group B with six points for the meantime. 

Cignal, which missed the first two weeks of hostilities, fell to a losing start in Group A. 

Omega will look to sustain its winning ways against Laus Playbook Esports on Saturday while Cignal will try to rebound versus Work Auster Force on Friday.
