IT'S FINAL: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially call it quits

It's over now between Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez!

The superstar couple issued an exclusive joint statement to today.com on April 15.

They said they are better as friends will continue to support each other in their ventures.

The full statement:

"We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."

On March 13, US media initially reported that the Latino power couple have split. But later, Lopez was quick to issue a statement that she and Alex were still trying to fix their relationship. On April 15, Lopez and Rodriguez decided to end their engagement.

Lopez, 51, and Rodriguez, 45, have been together for four years. They were supposed to get married in 2020 but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The couple got engaged in March 2019.

Lopez and Rodriguez were last seen together in public in the Dominican Republic last February. There, Lopez was shooting the movie "Shotgun Wedding."

“This has been a long time coming. They are tied in their business worlds so it’s not a cut and dry break up. It’s taken a while for them to even think about untangling it all,” a source told People’s Magazine.

Both stars have not acknowledged the breakup but sources said the split has something to do with the scandal involving “Southern Charm” reality star Madison LeCroy.
