British actor Regé-Jean Page, who starred as Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s hit regency drama “Bridgerton,” dashed the hopes of fans who were hoping to see him return to the franchise, even for a guest spot.
It can be recalled that the show announced the surprise departure of the heartthrob from the show’s upcoming seasons and said that they will continue to tell the remaining stories of the seven Bridgerton siblings without Page.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Page was offered by Netflix to return for a guest starring role that would earn him $50,000 per episode but it was turned down by the actor because of his upcoming projects.
Page has been confirmed to join top stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in Netflix action thriller “The Gray Man”, and he is also set to play a part in the live action “Dungeons and Dragons” movie. Page has also been rumored to be in the running for the iconic role of James Bond in the 007 franchise. Speculations were fuelled even more with his decision to leave the “Bridgerton” series.
Meanwhile, the second season of “Bridgerton” will pick up with Anthony’s story and focus on the events of “The Viscount Who Loved Me” from Julia Quinn’s bestselling book series.
