Vice Esports is eyeing a fresh start for the next Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-Southeast Asia season as it released its roster recently following a tough campaign in the SEA Upper Division.Â
"We've stopped the team but we'll likely look to form another one in the future," team owner Weiss "Vice" Cuevas told Manila Bulletin on Saturday, March 6, adding that they are still uncertain about their participation in the Lower Division next season. Â
"It will depend on whether we can find the right management (group)--coach, analyst, general manager, etc. At the moment, we are still looking."Â
Bannered by veteran soft support Joshua "Samael" Dela Serna (also known as Owa), carry Jinn "Palos" Lamatao, mid laner Mark Anthony "Bob" Urbina, offlaner Michael Roi "Enryu" Ladines and hard support Ryniel Keit "Zenki" Calvez, Vice came through with a successful campaign in the Closed Qualifier.Â
The Tamaraws took down Cignal Ultra, 2-1, but fell to the lower bracket after a 2-0 loss to Neon Esports.Â
Vice managed to clinch the last spot in the Upper Division with a 2-0 crushing of Malaysian side Galaxy Racer led by seasoned pros Lee "kYxY" Kong Yang and Adam "343" Shah.Â
However, Owa and the crew were relegated to the Lower Division after finishing at the bottom two together with Vietnam's 496 Gaming on identical 1-6 records.Â
Vice's lone victory came at the expense of fellow PH team Execration, 2-1, during the third week of the eight-team league.Â
Shortly after the eight-week inaugural DPC season, Palos returned to Execration while Owa, Bob, Enryu, Zenki and their coach Francis "cty" Maldo are still looking for a team.Â
"We had lots of momentum coming into the Upper Division and I hope that our momentum would carry on with our players in their respective (new) teams," said Cuevas.Â
