Biñan LGU to use Teodora Alonso's ancestral home as COVID-19 vaccination center
BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - While most local government units (LGUs) are using schools, covered courts, and gymnasiums as coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination hubs, the city government here is utilizing one of its local heritage sites to serve as a vaccine center and command facility.

On Friday (March 5), the city government conducted a simulation exercise for its COVID-19 vaccine rollout at the Historic Alberto Mansion – the 200-year-old ancestral house of Teodora Alonso, mother of Dr. Jose Rizal.
Atty. Vange Arriba of the city government's COVID-19 Vaccine Taskforce told Manila Bulletin that the LGU chose Alberto Mansion as a vaccination site because of its historical significance. With the mansion being a witness to battles and milestones, the heritage site has become a tangible representation of hope to Biñanenses.
In addition to that, the mansion is also located at the heart of the city, thereby providing accessibility and convenience.
Along with the simulation exercises, the LGU also inked a memorandum of agreement with its vaccination partner hospitals, namely, the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (Perpetual Help Medical Center - Biñan), Biñan Doctors Hospital, Unihealth Southwoods, and Ospital ng Biñan.
During the ceremony, Mayor Arman Dimauila thanked the city's doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers for being modern-day heroes leading the battle against COVID-19.
