Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Downhill World Cup athlete Luca Shaw announced today, March 31 that he has suffered a fractured facet joint on his lower spine following his horrific crash in Windrock Bike Park in Tennessee, USA last March 15.
The 24 year-old Belgian said that the injury will keep him off the bike for two weeks.Â
Shaw said that a mechanical issue locked up his bike and threw him over the bars after he qualified first and was fastest at the first split. Luckily, his doctors have told him that the fracture should heal in a couple of weeks without the need of surgery.
Meanwhile, Shaw's team mate from Santa Cruz Syndicate Greg Minaar announced that he has contracted COVID-19 last March 18 but is now in perfect condition and on his way to recovery.Â
