Celebrities react to violence inflicted on Filipina senior citizen in the US
Lea Salonga is among local stars promoting the hashtag "#StopAsianHate" on social media.
She recently reposted the tweet of international news reporter CeFaan Kim on a 65-year-old Asian American woman, who was assaulted while walking to a church.

The suspect supposedly uttered: "F*** you, you don’t belong here.”
"Happened in front of 360 W. 43rd St. 11:40am. Sources say building security guard not only failed to render her aid... He closed door on helpless victim. She was punched and kicked causing her to fall. He then kicked her multiple times in the head before fleeing. Victim is currently hospitalized with swelling to the face, pain in left leg. @NYPDHateCrimes investigating. Here’s the suspect," he wrote.
Lea reacted to it, saying: "This is still happening. And this is a stone’s throw away from Broadway theaters. My mom would walk to church on her own, feeling totally safe in this city, and I never had to worry about her. I guess those days are over."

"This is the suspect. I hope he’s caught and brought to justice. #StopAsianHate #StopAAPIHate."
Pia Wurtzbach also shared the news on her Instagram account.
Kobie Paras admitted the story makes him "so angry and sad."
"This could be anyone's loved one getting hurt smh #StopAsianHate."
Isabelle Daza couldn't agree more, pointing out "it is not okay."
"Who is this awful man who just beat up a senior citizen? Also, the guard who closed the door and didn't help?"
KC Concepcion echoed Isabelle's sentiments.
"How can security guards and others turn a blind eye in the wake of a rise in Asian hate crimes in American, when your job is to protect people," she asked.
"You think Asian Hate in America solely involves the Chinese community? Think again - apparently Filipinos are also under fire, and for NO VALID REASON AT ALL!!," she wrote in another post. "I swear you hurt ONE Filipino, you hurt ALL."
"What the hell did we do to you?? Our people have migrated to America for generations and have fallen in love with your country as our own. History of Filipino American relations speaks for itself. Why ruin it now? Filipinos continue to CONTRIBUTE to this nation, we are your loyal, highly skilled medical care soldiers, we have done nothing but believe in the greatness of America from decades upon decades," she added.
She asked the racists don't stunt Asian's ability to help provide growth and power to their country's economy.
"Most especially in the health care industry - not just in the US but around the world. Recognize that our doctors, nurses and health care workers are THE LIFELINE of today's world - a CRUCIAL part of society in these pandemic times," KC reiterated.
"Don't wait til YOU are hospitalized with your LIFE in the hands of Filipino America doctors and nurses who can choose whether or NOT to keep you alive. Wake up!!! Use your BRAINS before you succumb to your rage!"
