Advancing to the CODM Garena Invitational playoffs a milestone for NU Anarchy

Nifty Ultra Anarchy came through with an impressive campaign in the group stage to barge into the playoffs of the 2021 Call of Duty Mobile Garena Invitational (CGI) in Taiwan.

For NU Anarchy manager Arkisha Aragon, making it to the playoffs of the $40,000 (nearly P2 million) CGI is a dream come true for the team.

"This is a dream of the team and mine. We've been together for a year since XDG days and never lost sight of our goal. Being here to represent the Philippines on an international stage is euphoric," Aragon told Manila Bulletin in an online interview. 

Aragon's crew composed of Josh "smoke" Videna, Averson "skerd" Salaya, Vince "demorz" Salaya, Saymun "baymun" Mateo and Owen "owen" Crisostomo finished No. 5 with 12 points on a 3-4 series win-loss record at the end of the eight-team invitational's group phase on Sunday, March 28.

Coming off a good performance in the opening week, the Garena Philippines Championship winning team owned by Joseph Alejo demolished Thailand's SharpeR Esports, 3-0, to start the second week last Friday.

NU Anarchy lost 2-1 to another Thai team Astro.1S1K on Saturday but emphatically bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Taiwan's Raptors.DNS on Sunday.

In its final group stage match, NU.AA dropped 2-1 to fellow Filipino team NRX Jeremiah 29:11

NU Anarchy is set for a collision course against NRX, the winner of CODM World Championship Garena Qualifiers, in the lower bracket first round on Saturday, April 3.

Up against possibly the strongest team in the country, Aragon said his team is unfazed.

"The support from our fans, friends and family is what keeps us motivated to keep performing in this tournament. We know NRX is going to be one of the toughest among the competition, but we are ready to counter-attack," she said.

"The players are confident in themselves and they trust each other. At the end of the day, win or lose, we are here and we have cemented our name as one of the best in Call of Duty Mobile."
