Who can forget newly crowned Miss Grand International 2020 Evelyn Abena Appiah of the United States of America?

Pageant fans remember Appiah as one of the memorable candidates of Miss Earth 2019 who then represented Ghana when she cracked a Filipino pageant joke.

In one of her interviews in Manila two years ago, Appiah made a Filipino pun when she said: "Ang batang malakas kumain ay laging may gana (Ghana)!" Then she broke into laughter after she recited the spiel.

Appiah's funny video went viral in 2019. When Appiah won Miss Grand International 2020 on Saturday, the video trended again.

"Gana," which means to eat heartily in Pilipino, rhymes with the name of her country "Ghana."

Appiah only reached the semis of the environment-driven beauty contest. She did not win the Miss Earth crown but she sure won the hearts of many Filipino pageant fanatics in 2019.

On March 27, Appiah was crowned Miss Grand International 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand as she beat 62 other girls for the coveted crown. She represented the United States of America in the competition.
