Taylor Browne signs rookie deal with Alaska

Alaska was not done signing another draft pick to a rookie contract Tuesday, March 23, after coming to terms with second rounder Taylor Browne.

The team announced the deal on its social media accounts after the Fil-Canadian guard who was chosen 16th overall in the recent draft proceedings met with governor Dickie Bachmann.

Browne’s signing came hours after the Aces and sixth round selection Ben Adamos agreed to a two-year contract.

Some consider the 24-year-old Browne as a possible steal, though most fans are unfamiliar with his game.

But Aces coach Jeffrey Cariaso has been very high on the 24-year-old Browne, who was known for his shooting prowess back in Canada with the University of British Columbia.

He gained some notice during the 2019 William Jones Cup in Taiwan, firing 25 points spiked by seven triples in UBC’s 116-87 loss to eventual champion Mighty Sports Philippines.

Alaska is finalizing deals with other draft choices in late-second rounder Alec Stockton and third rounder RK Ilagan.

Stockton of Far Eastern University was chosen 21st overall while ex-San Sebastian guard Ilagan was taken 31st.
