Manilla Santos skips upcoming PVL conference

Veteran spiker Manilla Santos will not see action in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

The 34-year-old star from the Choco Mucho Flying Titans announced this on her Instagram account Tuesday, March 23, which already drew more than 5,000 views as of posting time.

“Hi guys, Ate Illa here. Sad ako hindi na ako makakasama this season. But alam nyo yan guys. Full support ako sa inyo this coming PVL 2021. Kaya galingan nyo guys okay? Ate Illa will always be here for you. Hashtag Titan Pride Always,” said Santos in a video post.

The video is also accompanied by a caption thanking all her supporters for being there since she came out of retirement after 10 years in 2019 to play for the Flying Titans.

“A big thank you to my Choco Mucho Flying Titans family for helping me get back in the volleyball league,” she wrote.

“For the past years, I’ve always dreamt of being back on the court and playing the sport that is really close to my heart, and you guys made it possible for me. I might not be able to join this upcoming Premiere Volleyball League Conference, but my heart will always support you guys!”

Santos also wrote “#24 signing off” pertaining to her jersey number, but it was still unclear if she would formally retire again.

The PVL Open Conference is tentatively set May 8 at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna with 12 teams.
