DITO launching service in 15 VisMin areas

Third player DITO Telecommunity Corporation today (March 2) announced it will be commercially operational in 15 areas in Metro Cebu and Davao on Monday, March 8.

The telco's service will launch its service in ten Metro Cebu areas: 1. Carcar, 2. Cebu City,3. Consolacion, 4. Danao, 5. Liloan, 6. Mandaue, 7. Minglanilla, 8. Naga, 9. San Fernando and 10. Talisay.

In Metro Davao, DITO will launch in five areas: 1. Panabo, 2. Tagum, 3. Carmen, 4. Davao City and 5. Digos.

The third telco has "conducted a national roll-out of its network and is already ready", stated Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano.
"However, commercial activities of DITO beginning March 8 shall be in key areas in Visayas and Mindanao and will eventually make its way to the rest of the country (located within, of course, the more than 37 per cent population coverage) in just a couple of months," he explained.

DITO opted to launch its commercial operation in Mindanao, its home turf - not the National Capital Region (NCR),.

It is only fitting that DITO begins its phased operation in Visayas and Mindanao because the company originated in the region, executives pointed out.

The speed of their rollout in the entire archipelago will depend on the outcome of the VisMin launch.

"But by the second quarter of the year, our service will be commercially available nationally," Tamano assured.
