Bren lets go of CSGO team

After nearly two years, Bren Esports has decided to part ways with its Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team due to limited activities in Valve's first-person shooting game at least in the Asian region.

The Bernard "Bren" Chong-owned premier organization announced the sad news through its verified Facebook page on Monday night, March 1.

"Our CS:GO team has been through rises and falls, but it has been a rewarding ride overall. We would like to wish the team all the best in the new path that they will be taking," it said.

"Thank you so much for wearing black and yellow."

Bren came up with the decision as "the industry has been through a series of whirlwinds in the previous year." Captain Chris "Pro." Martir, Elmer "micr0" Coloma, Deko "Papichulo" Evangelista, Johnty "JA" Arone and coach Jise "Rbtx" Jamir are now all free agents.

Patrick "Derek" Lacson left the team just a few days ago and is now a free agent as well.

Former player Riley "witz" Go departed the squad last month to give his esports career a breath of fresh air as he made his transition to Riot Games' booming FPS title Valorant. Witz is now with Thai Valorant team MITH.

Bren came into the CSGO esports scene when it tapped the established TNC Pro Team headed by Pro and Deko back in July 2019.

The black and yellow squad's notable achievements include winning the GeForce Cup Pacific 2019 and posting playoff finishes in the eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Asia 2019 and the Perfect World Asia League Fall 2020.

Bren was not the only organization that leg go of its CSGO roster as fellow Asian orgs in Beyond Esports and TIGER also released their teams while Paper Rex switched to Valorant.

Bren's former CSGO standout Jim "BORKUM: Timbreza is now with the franchise's Valorant squad together with fellow ex-CSGO pros from Mineski in Jayvee "DubsteP" Paguirigan and Kevin "Dispenser" Te, and former Mineski Dota 2 player Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco.
