Super Junior's 10th studio album 'The Renaissance' sells nearly 244,000 copies

K-pop boy band Super Junior’s new studio album has sold nearly 244,000 copies since its release on March 16.

Super Junior made their comeback by releasing “The Renaissance” album to mark their 15th year since debuting in 2005.

“The Renaissance” contains 10 tracks including the main song “House Party,” a catchy disco-pop dance track with an upbeat rhythm and guitar riffs that is also infused with trendy melody and trap.

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “The Renaissance” physical album sold 226,099 copies on March 16 to top the daily album chart.

In three days, it has sold 243,802 copies compared to 76,321 copies in sales garnered in one week by Super Junior’s repackaged album “Timeless” that was released last year.

“The Renaissance” also became No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums chart in 20 countries and regions: Philippines, Colombia, Ecuador, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Poland, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia.

It also topped the digital album sales charts of major Chinese music sites including QQ Music, Kugou Music and Kuwo Music.

Besides “House Party,” the album contains the songs “Super,” “Burn The Floor,” “Paradox,” “Closer,” “To Us (The Melody),” “Raining Spell for Love (Remake version),” “Mystery,” “Walk Together (More Days with You)” and “Tell Me Baby.”

Super Junior’s comeback was also marked with nostalgia as they performed their 2006 hit single “U” at their comeback show on Mnet on March 16. “U” was released when Super Junior still had 13 members. They are now 10 although Sungmin is on hiatus.

The group’s “U” performance video on YouTube has garnered 2.14 million views since March 16 while the “House Party” has 9.97 million views.
