With the surge on the number of Covid-19 cases going up every day for the past week, parents are making sure all that are their disinfecting tools are in tip-top shape.

How it stared
Forty-four-year-old mom Coline Ilacad did more than just make sure her home is safe and clean, she wanted to help other families stay healthy, too! Being a regular user of UVC (Ultraviolet-C light) products even before Covid-19 happened, she knew that using these can lessen the chances of getting infected with the virus. "When the pandemic happened, I felt so helpless and really scared, not only for myself, but for my child. I thought of all the parents out there who felt the same way I did."

This prompted her to share her UVC product finds under the label UV Protect. She started off with the sterilizer wand, multifunction sterilizer, and the vacuum. She then added more products, including a UVC cabinet, germ combat saber, and the air purifying necklace.

Working mom challenges
Starting a company, in the middle of a pandemic, can be daunting. Coline admits that it wasn't easy, especially when almost everything was closed with very limited movement allowed. "Shipments were either delayed or on hold. All of these were dependent on the restriction of the government. I was fortunate enough to have clients who were very understanding if there were delays in their orders. A lot of planning, forecasting, and, of course, prayers worked for me," she adds.

Aside from putting up a new company, she's also busy taking care of her seven-year-old daughter Caitlin. She admits that time management is the biggest challenge. "In between taking orders, testing the products, packing and sending to the buyers, I spend time with Caitlin, guiding her and helping her with assignments," she recalls. "It was hard at first but finding a system for it really worked for me. For example, in the morning I am with Caitlin. In the afternoon, I have a window that is about three hours and that's when I get to do my work before tutoring Caitlin. I tell my clients that product pick ups are done in the afternoon."

Tested and trusted
With so many UVC products out there in the market, Coline can attest that she road tested all of her items. "Each product from UVC protect has been chosen and tested by yours truly making sure that somehow we get a chance to battle this virus with the proper tools."

She also shared that she doubles up her disinfecting steps with the use of alcohol and her products. Often neglected when UVC rays are turned on, Coline reminds users that even plants and paintings, aside from human beings, should not be exposed to these harmful rays.
