Navotas City Hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) will be temporarily closed for two weeks after several of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The closure of the hospital’s OPD was announced by Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco on Twitter on Wednesday, March 17.
In a tweet, Tiangco said many hospitals are already full of COVID-19 patients which include medical frontliners.
“Ganoon din ang nangyari sa ating Out-Patient Department sa Navotas City Hospital. Kailangan nitong magsara ng dalawang linggo dahil may mga kawani itong nagpositibo (The same thing happened in the Out-Patient Department of the Navotas City Hospital. It had to be closed for two weeks because some staff tested positive),” Tiangco said.
The mayor also called on the public to cooperate and to follow health and safety protocols to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
“Pagod na tayo sa anumang may kinalaman sa COVID-19 kaya parang balewala na sa marami ang panganib na magkasakit. Pero kailangan po ang tulong ng bawat isa para matapos na itong pandemya. Makiisa po tayo para buhay ay maprotektahan at kabuhayan ay magpatuloy (We are already tired of dealing with anything related to COVID-19 maybe that’s why many of us are already ignoring the risk of getting sick. But we need the help of everyone for this pandemic to end. Let’s join hands so we can save more lives and more can continue their livelihood),” he said.
Navotas City’s total number of COVID-19 cases reached 6,943 on Wednesday, March 17, with 26 new cases added to its tally. There were 31 new recoveries in the city and four additional deaths.
