Metuda, Saludar highlight Sanman's triumph in GenSan

Rimar Metuda led a triumphant campaign of Sanman boxers as he scored a third round knockout win over veteran Eden Sonsona in their welterweight match in General Santos City Wednesday, March 17.

Sports competitions continued to pick up down south as the Sanman Boxing Promotions had another successful 10-card fight card which was held under strict health protocols at Sanman Gym.

Froilan Saludar, elder brother of reigning WBA World minimumweight champion, had a unanimous decision win over Reymark Taday in their eight-round bout in the bantamweight class.

Adam Diu Abdulhamid delivered a second round knockout against Romeo Jakosalem in their welterweight fight of the event dubbed “Comeback Kings” by the Sanman outfit.

In late November last year, Sanman had its first event in the pandemic period with former WBO bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales defeating Sonsona also at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.

Sanman top official JC Manangquil said they continue to hold events to keep the boxers active since majority of them have been sidelined due to quarantine measures.

“It was a good activity fight for all the Sanman boxers,” said Manangquil. “All opponent came to win and gave them (our fighters) a good fight that they need to take off the ring rust.”

The other boxers that scored wins are RV Deniega, Carjun Carcosia, Ian Sampan, John Vincent Moralde, Jerry Francisco and Harmonito dela Torre.
