Manila int'l flights scales down starting tomorrow

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) is limiting international inbound arrivals at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to 1,500 passengers per day maximum for all airlines for 33 days, starting 8:00 AM (Philippine time) tomorrow, March 18, to April 19, 202, 8:00 AM.

To comply with the restriction, airlines have to cancel international flights to and from Manila for a little over a month.

They also need to comply with the directives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on the kind of essential inbound travelers who will be allowed to enter the country.

This means certain passenger types need to postpone their Manila-bound travels until after the restriction period.

Airlines exceeding the allowed capacity will be penalized acxording to the provisions of the joint memorandum circular 2021 of CAB, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Clark International Airport Corp. ( CIAC) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines ( CAAP).

This is according to the CAB advisory issued Monday, March 15.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced it will operate its full international schedule for tomorrow, March 18.

In due course, PAL will announce any flight cancellations on other days for the rest of the period.

"We await the final announcements and information from the BI and the concerned authorities," according to the PAL statement.

"We seek your understanding as we prepare to make adjustments in our operations to comply with these latest government measures."
