BLACKPINK's Rosé sells nearly 283,000 copies of debut solo album 'R,' tops charts

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member Rosé’s debut solo album “R” has sold nearly 283,000 copies on the first day of release.

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, Rosé’s “R” recorded 282,674 copies in physical album sales and topped the daily album chart on the first day of release on March 16.

On Gaon Music Chart, “R” ranked No. 1 on the daily Retail Album Chart for March 16 with 255,640 copies sold.

According to YG Entertainment, the “R” physical album reached 510,000 copies in pre-orders to set a new record for a female K-pop solo artist.

“Just to think of all those nights me and my team spent perfecting this physical album!! I’m excited for you all to finally receive -R-. Although it’s just a single album I wanted everyone to feel satisfied with their purchase and feel like they actually owned a piece of creative work at the end of the day. It’s not much but I hope you all like it,” Rosé posted on Instagram.

“R” contains two songs, “On the Ground” and “Gone,” in which Rosé also participated as a songwriter.

According to YG Entertainment, “On the Ground” topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries and regions.

“R” also topped the Digital Album Sales Chart of QQ Music in China for three consecutive days and has sold 1.1 million copies. It is also No. 1 on Kugou Music and Kuwo Music.

Here are the top 10 best-selling albums on Hanteo Chart’s Daily Album Chart for March 16:
