SPD rounds up more than 1,400 violators on first day of unified curfew

The Southern Police District (SPD) rounded up more than 1,400 violators in the southern metro on the first night of the implementation of the unified curfew hours in Metro Manila.

SPD Chief Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz and his command groups inspected certain areas in Pasay, Parañaque, Taguig, and Makati to make sure that the implementation of the unified curfew hours was being strictly followed.

SPD said that police apprehended 372 violators in Pasay; 147 in Makati; 226 in Parañaque, 358 in Las Piñas; 203 in Muntinlupa; 109 in Taguig, and 13 in Pateros with a total of 1,428.

"Simula pa lamang ito sa loob ng dalawang linggo. Ako ay hindi mapapagod na magsagawa ng pag-iikot hanggang mas kumonti pa ang ating mga curfew violators (This is just the beginning in this two-week curfew. I will not get tired of inspecting until the number of curfew violators has lessened)," he said.

Cruz added that since it’s the first night, the police can be lenient and minors can be sent back to their houses but assured that they will be stricter with the implementation in the coming days.

Due to the surge in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) agreed to have unified curfew hours in the National Capital Region.
