Motorbanca capsizes off Zambales, 7 passengers rescued

Seven passengers were rescued after the motorized boat they were riding in capsized off the waters of Zambales, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Tuesday, March 16.

In an incident report, the PCG said the the motorbanca capsized due to rough seas on its way to Barangay South Poblacion, Masinloc, Zambales from San Salvador Island on March 12.

According to the rescued passengers, they encountered rough seas that brought severe damages to the boat.

Two of the seven passengers were rescued by the PCG. Meanwhile, the remaining five passengers were jointly rescued by two transiting motorbancas.

The PCG said the seven passengers were taken to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Masinloc where they received further assistance.

The distressed motorbanca was also towed to the nearest shoreline for repair.
