GOSSIP GIRL: Celebrities and cyber bullying

This is the controversial pic I posted in my Instagram @gisellesanxhez that received more than a hundred comments, half of those calling Sunshine Guimary (left) a trans. I erased those comments but some may still be there.

In times where social media is the channel to reach multitudes of people, celebrities eat cyber bullying for breakfast.

My article on Geneva Cruz last week was just about to be posted when the Smokey Mountain singer texted me again that she has had another word war against another netizen who commented that sides of her inner thighs known in Filipino as “singit” were dark.

As a celebrity, my move in this type of scenario is to delete the comment and block that person. But there are just some comments a celebrity can take and sometimes reply is imperative.

Take for example Geneva’s case, the singer tells Gossip Girl: “Bullies need to be taught a lesson, whether they’re aware of their actions or not. There is always a time to be silent and a time to speak. I decided the latter for this case.”

Sunshine Guimary is also a favorite victim of these cyber bullies. Having a perfect body of 40-26-36, when I posted our picture together in my Instagram, everybody started calling her a trans.

The up-and-coming sexy star told me she felt bad with these accusations because she is a real woman.

I told her that it’s all a matter of mindsetting. Being called a trans or transgender is a compliment. Transgenders belong to the most beautiful and sexiest in society.

As a transvestite , they have worked hard to reach perfection in their faces and bodies through all means - make-up, surgery, workouts, hormone therapy, etc.

To be called trans is like being called perfect. Guimary looked at me as though I was pulling her leg and I said I was not.

When people call you names, sometimes it’s just a matter of mindsetting. Angelica Panganiban was called "pangit" by one of her bashers and her response was uncanny: “Actually, nalulungkot pa nga ako eh. Sana nagmama ako sa iyo, may ipapangit pa pala ako." (I am actually sad. How i wished i inherited your looks then I could have become even uglier.”

I actually admire celebrities that can stand up to their bashers especially if they think it’s just for fun. But when fun turns into hurt then to hate, this is a signal that you must stop, delete and block.

This advise goes to everyone dealing with cyber bullying. The power is on the delete and block button and it is on your hands.
