Panelo proves he's not an old cow with 41 push-ups on-the-spot

Despite his age, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo was able to do 41 push-ups in a relief distribution activity in Malate, Manila last week.

Panelo did the push-ups after he was challenged by President Duterte's long-time aide Senator Bong Go.

During the relief distribution, Go was telling people to always exercise and be healthy. To prove a point, he pointed at Panelo and bragged that the latter can still do push-ups despite his age.

"Si Sec. Sal kahit senior na 'yan, magaling pa rin mag push-ups 'yan (Even though he's already a senior, Secretary Panelo can still do push-ups)," Go said, to which Panelo obliged.

Videos circulating online showed the flamboyant lawyer doing push-ups--chest not touching the floor--as the people watching him cheered for him.

Panelo was able to 41 push-ups on-the-spot.

The Palace official told the Manila Bulletin in an interview in January this year that he has a daily routine to keep himself healthy during the pandemic.

According to Panelo, he makes sure to eat nutritious food like fruits, veggies, and seafood, complete with a daily workout routine and eight hours of sleep. He also drinks a gallon of water a day.

He added that he does not drink, smoke, or gamble.

"Clean living," he said.
