COVID-19 claims life of another cop, the 33rd fatality in PNP

A middle-ranking official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) died of health complications after being infected by the coronavirus.

Based on the PNP data, the new fatality was 54 years old and assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office. He was the 33rd fatality in the PNP due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

He died on March 12 due to Acute Respiratory Failure secondary to Pneumonia as a result of the virus infection.

A total of 12,162 PNP personnel were infected since last year, the latest addition was the 99 policemen that were tested positive in the latest release of swab test result on Saturday.

The recovery rate in the PNP is still high since 11,280 of those infected have already fully recovered.

Currently, there are 849 active cases in the PNP, most of them are in the isolation facilities of the PNP.
