Four-member K-pop girl group Brave Girls charted to the top of music charts in Korea, dethroning K-pop princess IU with their four-year-old song “Rollin,’” which has been resurrected thanks to a viral YouTube video and support from soldiers.

iChart, “Korea's first and only Korea online music ranking combined chart,” announced on March 12 that “Rollin’” achieved a “Perfect All-Kill” status on music charts. This means the song is No. 1 on all real-time, daily and weekly music charts.

It showed that “Rollin’” is No. 1 on the daily top 100 and 24 Hits on Melon, real-time and daily top 100 on Genie, real-time chart on Flo, top 100 daily on Vibe and real-time and daily song chart on Bugs. Overall, “Rollin’” is No. 1 on iChart’s real-time and weekly charts. IU’s “Celebrity” song, which has been No. 1 on music charts, is now in second place.

This is the first time for Brave Girls to place No. 1 on any music chart in Korea, thanks to “Rollin.’”

Brave Girls said last month they were on the brink of disbanding. Their career was going nowhere. The original Brave Girls debuted in 2011 and through the years, there were changes in the members. Brave Girls are currently composed of Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna.

“Rollin’” was released on March 7, 2017 as the main track of Brave Girls’ fourth mini-album with the same name. The album placed 30th on the Gaon Music Chart.

Their predicament all changed when YouTube channel Viditor uploaded on Feb. 24 a video of Brave Girls’ various performances of “Rollin’” before Korean soldiers and inserted their comments in the video showing that the song has been popular among military men for years.

“#1 song in the Korean Military Billboard Chart,” or “Millboard LOL,” according to comments..

"Those who served in the military since 2015 must have watched their performance a million times. The song itself is really great,” according to one comment.

Others commented, “They can win a war with this song,” “North Korea soldiers would dance to this song too” and “The Koreas will be reunited LOLOL.”

“I still remember my senior danced that dance on the table in the barrack,” according to one soldier while another said, “I saw my senior dance at the end of the bed for the first time. This song was that influential.’

“Look how well soldiers taught this song to their juniors. This video was filmed in 2019 and they can still sing in unison,” another wrote.

One commented, “This song made me survive through my military service” while another said, “This song saved my days when I served in the military. There is something in this song that makes you strong.”

"It still feels weird if the attention is (for) us. When we made our comeback last year, one of the most memorable comments was 'Don't give up, thank you.' It's really flattering that so many people are still rooting for us," according to Brave Girls’ Yujeong, Yonhap News reported.

Brave Girls performed “Rollin’” on the TV show “M Countdown” on March 10 and will be on other music shows. In addition, they will also be guests on the TV shows “You Quiz on the Block” and “Running Man.”
