San Juan Mayor Zamora to finish quarantine on Sunday

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, who tested positive for COVID-19, is set to finish his self-isolation on Sunday, March 14.

In an interview with ANC, Zamora said he remained asymptomatic throughout his quarantine.

Zamora tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 28.

“I’m very thankful that I have remained to by asymptomatic and I’ve been in very good physical condition from the start,” he said.

“I’ll be reintegrated back to the community on March 14, that would’ve been my 15th day already,” he added.

Zamora said he immediately brought himself to a hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 to avoid infecting his family members, particularly his wife who is a cancer survivor.

“Even if I was asymptomatic, I decided to have myself checked in to avoid any other infections at home,” he said.

The mayor also encouraged others who tested positive to immediately leave their homes so as to avoid infecting other family members.

Zamora said the city has seen infections within families recently.

“We’re seeing some families getting infected. That’s why I wanted to transfer to the hospital immediately so as to set an example kapag merong nag-positive. Dapat talaga umalis na sa tahanan (When someone tests positive, that individual should leave the house),” he said.

“We have our local government quarantine facilities which are free for everyone from San Juan who tests positive. I encourage everyone to transfer so as not to infect the household,” he added.
