Ford Philippines unveils the Ranger FX4 Max

Tougher, more capable

Ford Philippines just held a virtual launch of their Ford Ranger FX4 Max, and this exciting and tough new variant brings with it Ranger Raptor looks and capability.

Whats new?

On the outside, the FX4 Max looks, and is tougher. Up front it gets the F.O.R.D. grille. It does away with the regular cabin length stepboards and gets more durable, tubular metal side steps with a non-slip finish. A matte black sports bar runs the full length of the cargo bed, adding to it’s presence and attitude.

Its stance sets it further apart from the rest of the Ranger lineup, and it gets this from the new 2.0-inch monotube Fox front and rear shock absorbers, with the rear having a remote reservoir which enables rapid recovery from extensive and prolonged off-road use. The coil springs up front and rear leaf springs have been tuned to provide greater compliance off-road, and at the same time balances payload and towing capability. This is paired with new 17-inch alloys and BFGoodrich all-terrain tires with tougher sidewalls, providing better traction on rough, uneven surfaces.   

Another new feature, taken from Ford’s F-series trucks and making it’s way into the FX4 Max is the Auxiliary Switch Pack. This allows easy connection and operation of auxiliary accessories and equipment in a seamless and integrated solution. Along with this, the FX4 Max is equipped with a 250 ampere alternator to supply power to multiple accessories and reduce the load on the vehicle’s battery.

Powerplant

The FX4 MAX now gets the same engine as the Ranger Raptor and Wildtrak 4x4; the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo diesel. It puts out 213-PS of power at 3,750 rpm and 500-NM of torque between 1,750 – 2,000 rpm, mated to the same 10-speed automatic transmission which allows 981-kg of payload capacity with 3,500-kg of towing capability.

Interior

Inside, the comfort amenities offer a contrast to the rugged exterior with leather seats and their carbon-accents and FX4 Max embroidery on the upper seat backs. There’s the leather wrapped steering wheel which shares the same Black Alley inserts with the door trims and dash applique. Sports pedals add to the rugged feel. It also comes with all-weather front and rear floor mats.

There’s a six-speaker entertainment system with an eight-inch color touchscreen that’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable, convenient SYNC 3 with Voice-Activated controls, Bluetooth with Phone/Audio streaming and two USB ports.

Safety and Convenience

The Ranger FX4 MAX is equipped with ABS + EBD, Electronic Stability Control Including Roll-over Mitigation and Traction Control, Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control, driver and passenger airbags, Rear Parking Sensors, Child Seat ISOFIX Anchorage Points and Cruise Control.

Availability and price

The Ranger FX4 Max will be available at all Ford dealerships nationwide starting March 10, 2021 at a launch price of P1,698,000. It comes in six colors: Arctic White, Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, Blue Lightning, and True Red.
