KCC PH to embark on Kolorful Adventures this year with traditional events, new activities

The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and to mark the beginning of a new decade, it is expanding the appreciation of Korean culture through traditional events and new activities. 

KCC’s 2021 Kolorful Adventures was inspired by the colorful Korean culture including Hallyu, or Korean Wave. 

It will be celebrating the Korean Lunar New Year or “Seollal” with an activity featuring traditional Korean arts kits. A total of 25 participants will have the chance to experience Korean culture and create their own hanji rubber shoes, hanbok key ring, Hangul eraser stamp,  Korean fan and a pressed flower mirror with their friends and family at home.

The center will also hold a JegiChagi Tutorial Livestream on its Facebook page, where those who will be making their own jegi, or Korean “sipa,” will have the chance to win BTS, BLACKPINK, TWICE and EXO goodies.

Kimchi, Korea’s popular fermented vegetable dish, will be the focus of “ChikaHansik” that will feature Filipino personalities who will make different kinds of kimchi while doing some “chikahan,” or chatting.  

Amid the ongoing pandemic, KCC is planning to bring art exhibitions to Korean culture enthusiasts either in their own homes or in person if the situation permits. 

Following the success of its Korea at Home last year, KCC will continue to showcase Korea’s traditional amusement, sports, literature, dance, clothing and, even food, in the form of tutorials, videos and lectures every “Traditional Thursday.” 

In compliance with rules, several KCC events will remain to be held online this year including the 2021 Pinoy K-pop Star. Its online activities such as the K-Pop tutorial, K-Dance Power Up, 2021 K-Drama Webinar and the 2021 Korean Film Festival will return bigger and better. 

KCC will also hold new events such as the K-Beauty Online Workshop in which a Korean expert will teach tips and tricks on how to get the famous Korean skin in a tropical country like the Philippines. 

The Online Korean Language Class will have more schedule and the three terms for 2021 are: Term 1 will run from February to April, Term 2 will be from June to August and Term 3 will be from October to December. 

The culminating activity to celebrate KCC’s 10th anniversary in the launching of its new building located on Bayani Road in Taguig with a total area of 254 sq. m. At the new home, KCC will cater to more Korean culture fans and learners as soon as the situation permits. It will have a permanent exhibition space, multi-purpose audiovisual rooms and classrooms.
