Ex-Benilde big man Leutcheu passes away

Tributes poured over social media for former College of St. Benilde Blazers center Clement Leutcheu who passed Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest.

He was 25.

“What a sad day… We will miss you my friend @cjleutcheu. May your soul rest in peace,” Blazers coach Ty Tang wrote on his Facebook account, which drew responses from the collegiate basketball community.

“I am grateful to have cross paths with you, Clement. Thank you for the friendship. May your soul rest in peace,” Blazers consultant and former PBA coach Siot Tanquingcen wrote.

“Gone too soon. Very nice guy. Condolences to his family,” Lyceum mentor Jeffrey Perlas also wrote.

“Terrible news, coach. Condolences to you and to the staff and team,” Sandy Arespacochaga, part of Gilas Pilipinas and Ateneo Eagles coaching staff, responded to Tang’s post.

At 6-foot-7, the Senegalese import provided height for the Blazers over the last four seasons. He averaged 6.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in his final year.
