'Punky Brewster' returns as single mom in new sitcom

Remember Soleil Moon Frye as "Punky Brewster" in the early 80s?
She's back!
This time "Punky Brewster" returns as a single mother in the new sitcom that will debut on Feb. 25 on Peacock, a streaming service of NBC.
Rolling Stones reported that the show will take place nearly four decades after the original show.

"Punky is now a newly divorced mother raising three children on her own and trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy (Quinn Copeland), a young, rebellious girl who, like her childhood self, is part of the foster care system. Punky feels a kinship with Izzy and decides to arrange for the girl to come live with her, to the dismay of her family," according to an article written by Claire Shaffer for Rolling Stones.
The new series will also star Cherie Johnson as Cherie, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Travis, Punky's ex-husband and Noah Cottrel, Oliver de los Santos and Lauren Lindsey Donzis as her children Diego, Daniel, and Hannah, respectively.
"Punky Brewster" is an Emmy nominated sitcom about a young girl being raised by a foster parent. It ran from 1984-1986. The new "Punky Brewster" series will air 10 episodes.
