CEU dean recognized as PRC outstanding optometrist

Centro Escolar University School of Optometry dean Dr. Elena Borromeo was awarded as one of the 2020 Professional Regulation Commission Outstanding Professionals for her remarkable contributions in the field of optometry during the recent virtual awarding ceremony with the theme, Outstanding Professionals: The Shining Light Amidst the Challenges of Time.

Besides her leadership as dean, Dr. Borromeo exemplifies active involvement in community outreach programs. She also shares her expertise by being resource persons in various optometry conferences.

In addition, she has written articles on ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses, and eye care, and co-authored of "Contact Lense Training Manual" published in South Korea. She also serves as consultant for Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, and Younger Optics in Australia and a trainer for optometrists here and abroad.

The PRC award adds to other recognitions she has received such as being the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations Distinctive Awardee in the Field of Optometry, Educator of the Year, Educational Leadership Awardee by the World Education Congress, Fellow International Service Awardee, Civitan Research Awardee, and Civitan Ambassador of Goodwill.

Furthermore, her exemplary efforts as dean of the CEU School of Optometry led to strong ties and collaborations with numerous industry partners on internship programs and modernization of optometry clinic facilities.
